Using this site

By reading The Case Brief you accept these terms. If you do not accept them, please do not use the site.

What this site is

The Case Brief is an automated news brief. It reads publicly available RSS feeds, groups items that cover the same event, and publishes a short original summary with a link to the original reporting. Headlines, article text and images belong to their publishers; the summaries are ours.

Accuracy

Summaries are written by software from third-party feeds and may be incomplete or wrong. Nothing here is professional, financial, medical or legal advice, and you should check the original source before acting on anything. Prices, availability and specifications change constantly and are especially likely to be out of date.

Our content and yours

The summaries, the layout and the The Case Brief name are ours. You may quote a summary with a link back to the story page. You may not re-publish the site wholesale, scrape it into a competing product, or present our summaries as your own.

Takedown and corrections

If you are a publisher or rights holder and want a headline, summary, link or cached thumbnail removed, use the contact form with the story URL. We act on properly made requests promptly and will suppress that source's content from future ingestion where the request calls for it. If we have got something wrong, tell us and we will correct it.

Sponsored placements

Advertisements are labelled "Sponsored", are visually distinct from editorial content, and are limited in density. We do not accept advertising that misrepresents a product. A sponsored placement is not an endorsement or a recommendation.

Links to other sites

We link out to publishers and advertisers. We do not control those sites and are not responsible for their content or their terms.

Availability and liability

The site is provided "as is", without warranties of any kind. We may change, suspend or close it at any time. To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for any loss arising from your use of the site or from relying on anything published on it.

Changes

We may update these terms; the date at the top of this page will change when we do. Continued use after a change means you accept the updated terms.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of New Zealand.
